NEWS: New Details Revealed On Texas Chainsaw Massacre Reboot

It's been only a measly three years since the last installment in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, and in 2021 the franchise will be given a fresh reboot by producer Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breath) and directed by Ryan and Andy Tohil. Today would have been the first day of filming,  but with the current pandemic it’s easy to see why that isn't the case.

The new film in the franchise is rumored to be a direct sequel to the original. Some may recall the 2013 film "Texas Chainsaw" to have a similar idea being a direct sequel taking place twenty something years after the original film. However this time around Alvarez and company seem to be going in a different direction with the plot and characters, as seen from Braxter Timberlake at The Illuminerdi

The plot as we know it so far revolves around two sisters. Twenty Five year old Melody, a money maker from San Francisco, and Dreama, Melody's wheelchair bound sister. The film would have them driving through rural Texas for a business trip, likely coming across Leatherface.

Speaking of the man behind the skin mask, Leatherface in the casting call in the film is referred to as "Kenny" and is described as a 60 year old man with a large body and tightly fitted church clothes. All of which sound very on par for the chainsaw wielding maniac we all know and fear. The details don't stop there though. Additionally Leatherface as a character is labelled as a non-speaking role, however he does communicate using odd noises such as a "howling belly laugh" and a "pig like squeal". This new Leatherface also apparently spends most of his time "inside watching TV". He also covers up his face due to not wanting to have his picture taken, something that is addressed lightly in the 2006 film "Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning".

Another new character to the modern world of Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a woman is said to be able to calm Kenny down when he is having tantrums, a woman by the name of "Mrs.Mc" who's main conflict so far is that she is on the verge of eviction from her home. The casting call for the character is an elderly woman of any ethnicity.

With all this info it’s hard to not be excited for the film. As a diehard Texas Chainsaw Massacre film fan I'm really interested to see how this film plays out, especially with the idea of an elderly Leatherface in the modern day. An idea that didn't play out too well in the aforementioned "Texas Chainsaw". There's always a chance for redemption though!
